Founded in 2008, Presidio Knolls School (PKS) is an independent school located in the heart of San Francisco, with approximately 440 students enrolled in preschool through eighth grade. JOB DESCRIPTION
PKS seeks a full-time Communications Associate who will play a key role in bringing the PKS story to life through a compelling mix of storytelling, visual media, and digital content creation in support of the school's institutional priorities around admissions, advancement, and community engagement.
Reporting to the Director of Advancement, you will partner with faculty, staff, students, parents, and alumni to capture and share content that reflects the school's vibrant community and our distinctive approach to teaching and learning across a range of digital and print channels, including social media, the school website, email communications, and other publications.
We are seeking a professional with at least two years of relevant experience. PKS offers a tight-knit, collaborative, and supportive work environment with significant opportunities for professional growth and development.
This is a full-time, non-exempt position working 40 hours Monday to Friday. While there is potential for the role to have some flexibility, the expectation is that the successful candidate will be able to work in-person on our campus in San Francisco 90%+ of the time.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Communications & Storytelling
- Create and distribute the school's weekly newsletter
- Develop and manage an integrated editorial calendar
- Coordinate school-wide announcements, crisis communications, and other time-sensitive messaging
Social Media & Content Creation
- Manage PKS's social media presence across all official platforms
- Create engaging platform-specific content and leverage emerging trends and best practices in social media and digital storytelling
Platform & Content Management
- Help manage and maintain the website, ensuring information is current, engaging, and aligned with school priorities and brand standards
- Monitor and analyze website, email, and social media performance metrics and provide recommendations to strengthen engagement and reach
- Update parent portal as needed
- Organize and maintain the school's digital assets
Publications & Marketing Materials
- Support the planning, design, production, and distribution of school publications and collateral materials, including admissions and fundraising materials, event programs and invitations, brochures, flyers, posters, and other promotional pieces
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Excellent writing, editing, storytelling, and content creation skills, including photography, short-form video, and graphic design
- Strong organizational, project management, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively across a school community
- Experience managing social media platforms, website content, email communications, and digital marketing tools
- Curious, proactive, and self-directed
- Eager to embrace opportunities to participate in daily school life
- Bachelor's degree and at least two years of relevant experience in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, or a related field; experience in a school or nonprofit setting is preferred
- Bilingual and biliterate in Mandarin Chinese is highly desirable, but not required
- Ability to support occasional evening and weekend events
SALARY & BENEFITS
PKS offers a competitive compensation package. The full-time salary range is $38.00-$45.00 per hour. Salaries are set according to years of experience and degrees earned. PKS offers a strong benefits package for all full-time employees.
